Updates on the Business of Podcasting

Dawn and Drew Go Corporate

MarketingVOX: “The stars of the often-raunchy Dawn and Drew Show podcast are in final negotiations to become paid podcasting employees of The Podshow Network, according to AdAge (via MediaBuyerPlanner). A Possible Podcasting Ad Model

Information Week: “Some podcasters are starting to insert paid advertising into content. No standard model has emerged for the practice, but the Yankee Group predicts that podcast ad insertion will be based on a cost-per-impression model, an ad-industry measurement for every 1,000 people who see or hear an ad. It’s suggesting podcasters charge advertisers $15 per 1,000 podcast clicks or downloads.”

CBS Hires a Podcaster

Steve Rubel: “CBS has signed Dana Greenlee to podcast for the Tiffany network’s web site. Dana was one of many who answered a casting call. Dana has been in radio for years and most recently served as co-host of the six-year-old WebTalk Radio show. He own podcast is called “Boston Illegal Podcast.” An announcement is expected on September 12, according to a source close to Ms. Greenlee.”
